Hitt Consulting

This is a quick bit about Hitt Consulting. Who is the man behind the company. How it got started.

Hi, I'm Terry Hitt, owner of Hitt Consulting. I have been in the electronics field since 1990.

Working at Anyware Computer systems we created unique devices using microntrollers. In those days we mainly used the Intel 8051 controller. I worked on several projects most noteable was a two-way radio system used to communicate with Golf Carts. Other projects included an inexpensive system to measure the speed of bowling balls for professional bowlers.

From Anyware Computer Systems, I went to C.C.A.P.S. computer center. Here I performed network installations and computer equipment sales and service. I enjoyed working on-site and meeting and working with many different customers.

As a result of a network installation at an electronics company that learned that I know electronics in addition to computer and network skills led to my next (and current) job at Greenray Industries Inc. At Greenray we design and build high precision crystal oscillators. I work on designs that use microcontroller.

Just by chance did I start Hitt Consulting. Here is how it happened:
I was working on a simple BASIC compiler for the PIC controllers. And I started also working with the SX series of controllers. They were similar, but used different instructions. I sent an email to Parallax Inc because they were holding an SX design contest and said that I would like to enter my simple compiler as an entry. Ken Gracey from Parallax replied that I could NOT enter my compiler because the compiler itself did not run on the SX chip. BUT he said, they were very interested in developing a BASIC compiler for the SX chip. And he asked if I was interested in the project. Well I wasted about 2 milliseconds before replying that I WAS interested.

That started a long relationship with Parallax Inc. We stuck a deal and worked for months on getting the compiler into shape. It was an enjoyable project, and the Parallax employees were very supportive. Today the compiler is used by hundred (probably thousands) of customers.

Because of my good fortune with Parallax, I needed to start a small side business. So Hitt Consulting was born. I am the sole employee, and run the company as a side business (I am still a full-time employee at Greenray Industries). I like to work on small to medium side jobs (4 to 20 hours). I check my e-mail several times a day, and I'm very reachable.

Some other projects I have worked on:
Air Commander
I'll post some more as I get permission...
